How The NDIS Works

Home /What is NDIS

The NDIS is Australia’s first nationwide program for people with disability, offering direct funding to individuals.

We are rolling out a new digital system along with improvements to how the NDIS is delivered.

What is NDIS?

Around 4.3 million Australians are living with a disability. Over the next five years, the NDIS is expected to provide funding for supports and services to approximately 500,000 people with permanent and significant disability. For many participants, this will be the very first time they are able to access the disability support they need.

Am I eligible?

Answer a few simple questions to check if you may be eligible to apply for the NDIS. Please note, these questions are only a guide — the final decision on eligibility is made by the NDIA.
