The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding to eligible people with disability, giving them the opportunity to enjoy more time with family and friends, gain greater independence, develop new skills, explore employment or volunteering, and live a better quality of life.
Beyond funding, the NDIS also connects individuals with disability to essential services and supports within their community. This may include doctors, local groups, sporting clubs, support networks, libraries, and schools. It also provides clear information about the supports available through state and territory governments.
Today, the NDIS supports more than 500,000 Australians with disability, helping them access the right services at the right time. Among these are around 80,000 children with developmental delay, who are receiving early intervention supports to give them the best chance of reaching their full potential throughout life.
